That might be the wrong question. The right question, in my view, is: “Does past life regression work as a modality?” But let’s not jump the gun. Let’s begin by asking, “Does it matter?”
The answer is no — at least from my perspective as a past life regression therapist with many years of experience. This includes not only conducting sessions for others, but also doing self-regression work during my own journeys and undergoing past life regressions with other practitioners.
I view past life regression as a technique or tool to be used in therapy. I have seen its power when it comes to healing ailments — both my own and those of others. I can personally tell you that I am not entirely convinced that what arises in a past life session is a true version of a past life event. I think it is entirely possible that our unconscious minds can build a story around our trauma, either to explain events, to assist us in letting go, or to understand something in our lives that appears inexplicable.
Despite the fact that I do not fully believe what arose, the process alleviated my physical symptoms, and in most cases my physical ailments simply disappeared. Intense sinus problems disappeared over a period of two weeks. Knee problems at 50 prompted my doctor to say that I would need knee replacements within a few years, yet these problems disappeared over a period of weeks. Twelve years later I can honestly say that my knees are those of a normal person my age. I am indeed ageing and so are my knees, but I am not a candidate for a knee replacement and am unlikely ever to need such a procedure.
In the end I came to the conclusion that our minds can help us heal. The methods used are not relevant. It truly does not matter to me whether I did in fact suffer through those lives my mind showed me as linked to the injuries I had in this life. What matters is that my knees and my sinuses are healed — completely. What my mind did to achieve that outcome does not concern me. I am merely grateful that life is easier.
Much has been written about past lives over the years, and case studies abound. We only need to think about the well-documented work of Dr Brian Weiss and Dr Michael Newton. There is not much I can add to what they taught, except years of experience in the therapy room. Our lives are filled with patterns, and these stretch out into our minds. If we but ask, it will show us the way.
What do you have to lose by asking your mind to bring you information that could help you heal your physical body and ease your state of mind? The cost of a session or three — as it really only takes two, maximum three sessions to deal with one issue — is far less than the cost of eventual medical intervention. No one suggests that you should stop taking medication or refuse other forms of treatment. You can simply ask your mind to help you understand. And then you decide what to believe and what to do when your symptoms begin to fade.
Let me leave you with the story of a woman I will call Annie (not her real name). She, as the plaintiff, was getting a divorce from her husband, and he had complied with all her settlement demands. The settlement agreement was ready for their signatures. She got everything she wanted — the divorce and the settlement terms she herself had dictated. And yet Annie could not bring herself to sign the document.
In my therapy room she told me that she felt that if she signed the document, her mother-in-law would get her way. The woman had been trying to break up her son and Annie’s marriage for the entire duration of their fairly long marriage. Using regression therapy, we delved into her mind to find the reason for Annie’s reluctance to sign the divorce papers.
It transpired that in a life long ago, Annie’s soul had lived in the body of a “Lady of the Night.” She wanted a particular man, but he was married. And so she simply enticed him away from his wife, ending their marriage. After a while Annie (in that life) got bored with the man and pushed him away. She had broken up a marriage and, in the end, broken both the man’s heart and that of his former wife. It did not bother the person she had been in that life.
After her session, the understanding that Annie (in this life) opened her eyes with was that she had this time around married the man she had only played with back then. He was her current husband. Her mother-in-law was the woman whose husband she had taken away in that other lifetime. The three of them had returned to balance the scales in this life. Her husband and his mother came as mother and son precisely so that their union would not be one that Annie’s soul would this time around be able to break up. Instead, she had to experience what it felt like when someone tries to break up her marriage — and that role fell to her mother-in-law, the aggrieved party in the other life. Her husband always chose his mother’s side, which was his role in the balancing of the scales. In the other life he chose her; this time he chose his mother.
The insight was immediate. Annie wiped her eyes as she emerged fully back into the present after her regression session. With a wide smile she said, “I did not want him then, I do not want him now. She can have him.” She left my therapy room and went straight to the lawyer’s office to sign the settlement agreement.
Again, does it matter what really happened? What will it prove if one had a definitive answer as to whether Annie had experienced a past life, or whether it was something her mind made up? I doubt that proof will be possible. What is a fact, however, is that Annie was able to move forward with no further emotional baggage.
The past life regression method works well in cases where family or relationship dynamics are difficult. Sometimes it is simply a question of understanding what is going on. And then it becomes easier either to see the way out of a situation or to find a workable solution. The best part is that whatever the solution or answer, it comes from within you. And isn’t that where the real power should be? Visit my website for more information and contact me when you feel ready to book your session.
