Some time ago, an idea started to form in my mind. Obviously, it came from a space outside of me, as I would not have thought to do such a thing as the idea seemed to insist was possible to bring about. Eventually, the idea grew into one with a name, and before I knew it the Earth Light Meditations were born. I wrote about it in a previous blog. From there, the whole project seemed to develop a life of its own.
It turns out that sometimes life brings us an opportunity to make a difference. We see the opportunity, and we take it. But then when the day arrives, life surprises us and teaches us about the difference a few can make on a day when they are in the right place at the right time. A unique group of souls gathered in Franschhoek in early November 2024 for the first of seven Earth Light Meditations. We were all forever changed as we began the Quest for Gaia.
After the event was over, we had a tough time saying goodbye to each other, and found ourselves making friends with the strangers who sat next to us.In the days after the event, we missed each other, and wanted to reach out all the time. Something had shifted, and we were still trying to come to terms with why we were so deeply moved by it all. On a personal level, I can tell you that I have led guided group meditations for many years. It is always a very special experience. Humans were meant to work together, linking their minds to open the gateways to miracles. I know the power of group work – I see it create wonderful outcomes each time I engage with a group to lead a meditation around a shared intention. But this time, the experience, for me, became magical. What a privilege to embark on this Quest for Mother Earth together.
And as always when humans involve themselves with universal work, the plans we make are really irrelevant. In the end, the form we try to give our contribution is a mere shadow of what can be achieved when we leave the details to the universe. I think we were all surprised by what transpired as we allowed our energies to merge and be guided to do the work Gaia needed us to do, which was merely to open and hold the space for the forces of the universe to do the real work.
Although I did not realise this before, we now know that there will be only seven of these Earth Light Meditations – one for each continent. Africa was first on the list of spaces to be cleared. As the forces for good gathered and the powers of benevolence were unleashed, Africa started lightening, the pain and trauma held within Gaia’s field around the continent beginning to release. The trees shared their memories through the symbol bearers, and guided the benevolent energies from all the realms to where Earth needed their help the most. The Dragon Legions brought their magick and cleansing fire, while the Angelic Realms poured out their love on a continent that desperately needed it. But none of this could have happened without the blessing of the Creator of All.
As the symbol bearers for the gateway gathered before the event started, each one knew that something momentous awaited them. Ordinary humans about to have a small part to play in a huge undertaking. The experience was memorable, and of course humbling. Especially when at the end all the forces that had gathered to help Gaia, lingered for long enough to help each participant to clear one issue in their own lives. A true blessing bestowed by Source, the Creator of All Things.
Afterwards, the group decided to have lunch together, and when we arrived at the restaurant in Franschhoek, we were delighted to find that a Christmas Market had been set up in the garden. At the very first market stall we passed, on a corner table where I could not miss it, I found a cutting board with a beautiful picture of Africa etched on it. My heart filled with gratitude, because I knew I was looking at a new Africa, one where the trees can grow again, and the birds are free to fill the air with joy. Africa can once more be a space of abundance and beauty, as balance slowly returns to Gaia’s African planes.
