Months of getting ready, of steadily working our way through magical and synchronistic experiences, five of our group of nine have just landed at the airport in Luanda. It is hot and humid, but we have only good things to say about Angola Airlines. Clean, neat, reliable. The snack was ample, but apparently one drinks coffee black, and that is that. Mariëtte took a picture of our snack pack, simply because it was very nicely presented, and whatever prejudices we (may have) had, disappeared once Tish and Alta approved the French red wine that complimented the ham and cheese roll.

Approaching the airport the view was spectacular, and Tish managed to capture the sun setting over the see. After a few minutes we recovered from the initial shock of the humidity and the heat, and we soon felt better as the semi-effective air conditioner at least prevents the airport from turning into a sauna.

We will be here until 23h00 Luanda time, which is an hour behind South Africa. And then it is on to São Paulo in Brazil, where we hope to arrive eight and a half hours later. From there we will head out to Lima, and then Cusco. It is a long trek, but the Andes mountains are waiting for us, and we know it will be worth it.

The rest of the group has just arrived from Johannesburg. It was quite noisy. But that happens when you put a group of happy people together … We are blessed! We’ll keep you posted!! Thanks for travelling with us.
